Standards

ECS believes that no student should have to take an academic penalty to attend a Christian school. We strive to provide a quality, comprehensive academic program, with offerings in many co-curricular disciplines (e.g. computers, vocal and instrumental music, art). Our students regularly test in the top 10-15 percentile in the national norm referenced tests.

Bible

Because it is the absolute, infallible Word of God, the Bible is central to the curriculum at ECS. Daily classes provide instruction in the books of the Bible, the writers, and God's message of hope to mankind. The New International Version of the Bible is used for classroom and memory work.

Mathematics

When taught from a Biblical perspective, mathematics shows how God uses absolutes to reveal His infinite diversity and orderliness. ECS's math program includes hands-on instruction utilizing manipulatives, as well as daily practice in the foundational skills of mathematics.

Science

Science is taught within the Biblical parameters of God as Creator of the universe, and therefore, the Creator of scientific laws and truths. Inquiry learning through hands-on experiments, as well as instruction in the elementary principles of earth science, physics, biology, and chemistry comprise the science curriculum.

History

We study history as the providential work of God in the affairs of men. Social studies also provide a greater understanding of other races and cultures. We emphasize the Christian influence at the founding of our nation throughout the grades.

Language Arts

ECS language arts program includes a strong phonetic reading program, coupled with modified whole language approach to spelling, writing, and grammar.

Music

"From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise." (Matt. 21:16b) Emmanuel Christian School seeks to prepare students for a life of service and worship in the local church. Praise and music are critical to the life of the church, and are therefore an integral part of curriculum at ECS. Vocal music is offered from grades prekindergarten-5th. Students have both formal and informal occasions to express themselves and to minister through music both at school and in the community. Through these various opportunities the student will gain an increased appreciation for music, and its role in the culture at large and the church in particular.
