curriculum-header

Emmanuel Christian School is not just a private school, but an inherently Christian school; therefore, all subject matter is taught from a biblical worldview. ECS uses texts published by both Christian and secular companies. We strive to provide a quality, comprehensive academic program, with offerings in many co-curricular disciplines. Our students take a standardized test in the spring of each year and regularly test in the top 25% of the national norms.

Bible

Because it is the absolute, infallible Word of God, the Bible is central to the curriculum at ECS. Daily classes provide instruction in the truths of God's word and the message of hope to mankind through the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Mathematics

ECS's math program includes hands-on instruction utilizing manipulatives, as well as daily practice in the foundational skills of mathematics. As taught from a biblical perspective, mathematics shows how God uses absolutes to reveal His infinite diversity and orderliness. Students completing third grade are offered the opportunity to accelerate in the math program by successfully completing our summer math course.

Science

Science is taught within the biblical parameters of God as Creator of the universe, and therefore, the Creator of scientific laws and truths. Inquiry learning through hands-on experiments, as well as instruction in elementary principles of earth science, physics, biology, and chemistry comprise the science curriculum.

History

We study history as the providential work of God in the affairs of men and the Christian influence at the founding of our nation is emphasized through all grades. Social studies also provides a greater understanding of other races and cultures.

Language Arts

The language arts program includes a strong phonetic reading and spelling program with a modified whole language approach to grammar and writing in the lower grades. The upper grades use novel studies and intensive grammar, spelling and writing. The Accelerated Reading program is used K-5th. Since many of our reading selections are from secular sources, we integrate biblical principles as opportunities arise.
