Expectations
The third grade teaches a biblical worldview during Bible instruction, starts to place a greater emphasis on independent reading and also works to develop writing more extensively and integrate it with other subjects on a greater scale. At the end of third grade, students have the opportunity to take summer math and enter the advanced math instruction the following year if test scores prove proficient.
Third Grade Curriculum
- Bible: Summit
- Math: Saxon
- Reading: Open Court and Accelerated Reader (AR)
- English: Open Court and Shurley English
- Spelling: Purposeful Design
- Science: Purposeful Design
- Social Studies: A-Beka (U.S. History), Gibbs Smith Education (OK History) and teacher developed units
- Spanish: teacher's oral instruction and workbook pages (various publishers)
- Special Classes: art, music, computer, PE and library time
